BRITISH COLUMBIA EMPLOYER TRAINING GRANT

The B.C. Employer Training Grant (“ETG”) is designed to assist employers operating within B.C. in the private and non-profit sectors to provide skills training to new or current employees. This training will develop skills and certification, upgrade skills needed due to automation, enhance productivity and result in secure, sustainable employment.

The Workforce Training Stream within the ETG supports employers to upgrade their employees’ skills and develop their workforce. The term ‘employers’ includes self-employed individuals. This stream is designed to support any training that aligns with an employer’s business needs e.g., occupational training, leadership, management, business, sales, business improvement and soft skills. Employers in this stream will receive 60% of the cost of a successful applicant’s training, up to $5,000 per year.

The ETG is open for specific training periods called Intakes. The next Intake commences April 1, 2019 and applications are accepted before that date. All training must start between April 1 and June 30, 2019. Because of the popularity of this program it is advisable for Applicants to submit their applications no later than April 1, 2019.

To receive ETG support, no less than five elements must be demonstrated to qualify:

  1. Applicant – this is the speaking business that employs the speaker.
  2. Participant – this is the speaker who receives the skill training.
  3. Training Program – this is the skill training program taken by the Participant.
  4. Training Provider – this is Get Inspired Talks Inc.
  5. Instructors – these are the people appointed by Get Inspired Talks Inc. to deliver the skill training to the Participants.
